Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Team Challenge Finally

This is it everyone, the last week and the finally of this awesome learning experience! Wow! Six weeks of challenges over at Swirlydoos.  And each week we got to create a project using a different technique.

This final week we had to not only follow the sketch provided to us, but..but..apply layering, distressing, use of different mediums, and an additional technique of our choice.

Below are pictures with closeups of my layout:

She who leaves a trail of glitter is never forgotten.

This is a pic of me in both color and in black and grey.
I used papers from one of the past Swirlydoos kits. I also did some hand stitching with embossing and distressing.

Here's a closeup of the layering and distressing. You can also see on the right I did some stamp embossing using embossing powder from Lindy's Stamp Gang. On the left I just stamped with distress ink the image to the paper.

Here's a closeup of the leaf stencil used with light modeling paste.

This is a closeup of the DA chippy which was painted with GM spray and stamped with acrylic paint. I also added some chalk ink to the edges. Oh and some pearls.

This is a closeup of the stitching, bling, stencil and glimmer mist.

I made this flower using the flower cabbage tutorial on Natasha Naranjo Aguirre's blog.

Here you can see the stamp embossing and also the modeling paste.

Thanks for looking!

Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Team Challenge

Wow, and here it is.. Week 5 of this challenge. Our challenge for this week at Swirlydoos was to create art journal pages. I wasn't sure which way to go with this so below is my creation, so many ideas and thoughts..AAAAH!!!!!

With that said I created a 6 page album from scratch, using nothing but left over scrap paper from all of my previous swirlydoos kits. To make my pages a little thicker I mod podged a manila folder in between my pages, so I wouldn't have a problem once sticking all of the paint medium and embellies on it. It worked, whew!!!

This is page 1 of 6. My album is titled Value The Good Times.
So all the mediums used on this page include: Liquitex light modeling paste, glass beads, gelato inks, glimmer mist, white gesso and crackle paint. I also added some ribbon trim in between the edges of my album.

  Here's a closeup.

Page 2 of 6. I left the page blank to fill at a later time. I'm not sure if I'll include a picture or journaling. I loved the colors here, very cheerful.

Page 3 of 6. I also left room here to fill up later. I did lots of layers of different papers.

Page 4 of 6. Again I used some light modeling paste mixed with some acrylic paint. DA chippy which was painted and spritzed.

Page 5 of 6. I used a butterfly stencil and painted the butterflies with gelatos.

Page 6 of 6. This is the back of the album. Very simple, nothing great about this since I figured this one will get banged up the most. hehe. Added some lace and mod podge.

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy!

Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Team Challenge

For the SOUS Blog Hop Winner of my prize package, please click here or scroll down.

We're on to week 4, and boy have these ladies stepped up to the plate! It's nerve wrecking and exciting at the same time.  I am honored and humbled to still be in it to win it.. over at Swirlydoos.   And like I said before, if I don't make it past this week's elimination it's all good. I've learned so much and have been very inspired by all the ladies.

So with that said, this weeks challenge is to use a canvas to create our project..EEEKK. It's been a long time since I've played with my canvases.

Here is my entry with details:

Titled: Wearing her invisible crown

It has been a long time that I've used a pic of myself.. I just don't like for people to take photo's of me.  Silly right? Anyways here's a list of the products I used on this canvas.
I used many different types of art mediums to include: liquitex glass beads, gesso in black white and clear, glimmer mist in both spanish moss and bell bottom jeans, silks acrylic glaze in ice, luminarte bolivian blue, and acrylic paint in snow cap.

This is a closeup of the diamond mask I used from The Crafters Workshop. I used the glass beads which I let dry then painted with glaze in ice color and also some white gesso. This corner is also painted in the luminarte bolivian blue, adds great shimmer.

Underneath everything, I did use some tissue paper with music notes on it but since I've added so much you can barely see it now.

Here's another closeup of the DA chippy and the glass beads diamond pattern.

This corner is spritzed with spanish moss glimmer mist and painted with snow cap acrylic paint, to give it a lighter shade of blue.

Thanks for looking!

Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Team Challenge

If you are looking for the Stuck On U Sketches blog hop, please click HERE

Hi Everyone, I'm so excited to have made it to the week 3 challenge over at Swirlydoos. I am blown away by everyone's creativity. It's such a tough competition..crossing my fingers, legs, and toes..that I make it for the next round..LOL! But..if I don't, I've still learned so much from all my Swirly Sisters and forever grateful.

Our challenge this week was to incorporate a foil technique in our project. I created a layout using this technique.
Below are some pics of my layout and closeups. The pics just don't do this layout justice, plus not to mention my lighting sucked! hhaha

Title: Adore
This is a pic of hubby and me. I love this pic.. Hubby is so handsome! Awe.. Anyways..lets move on. LOL
I used papers from a previous Swirlydoos Kit, which included papers from the Bo Bunny Weekend Market line. I did lots of punching, distressing, and embossing.

Thank god for close-ups.. I made these two large flowers entirely out of foil..what the heck right?? Yup..it's foil tape which i embossed then cut using my tattered florals die and finally inked with acrylic paint and alcohol ink. The leaves are also made using this same technique.

Here's the LINK to the video technique created by Miranda Edney.

Omgosh..the hearts, I also created with this foil technique..loved it..loved it!

Here's the background which is made of foil as well. And another heart.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

An additional challenge was to use this as a layout sketch or transform
this into a card design! The surprise in the blog hop is waiting
to see what everyone did!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout that I created using the above sketch:

 Titled: Treasure
This is a pic of me and my hubby.
These papers came from my kit of the month over at Swirlydoos. They are gorgeous!! It's the Prima Firefly Collection.
The chipboard is from dusty attic, Sweat Pea Frame Set.
I used two different MS punches.
The polaroid frames are from Kaisercraft..which you can barely see because I add so much to my layout..LOL.

Here I used a petaloo fabric flower and also a leaf vine from prima.

In this corner I used flowers from petaloo, prima and from my stash. The white heart is from the prima shabby chic treasures.

This beaded bird I've been hoarding for so long, it's from prima.

Now we just couldn't let a big day like today go without a bit of a treat
for you all so we have a few wonderful sponsors for our hop!

Our very own Lisa Norris of Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbon

Regina Easter of The Cutting Cafe
